As a Haverford College graduate in Art History with a specialization in Medieval art and architecture, William Ethan began his journey under the tutelage of Michael Fahey, former sommelier of Topper's restaurant, on Nantucket island. Ethan would continue on to New York City to work for Jean-luc Le Du, former sommelier at Daniel of Daniel Boulud, and to work at the cheese counter at Max Brennan's Artisanal Bistro. Blending his passion for cheese, wine, art, and music, William Ethan then crafted an educational series in New York entitled An Evening with Ethan, creating intimate explorations through specific appellations of cheese and wine, accompanied by its art, history, and appropriate live musical performances.
William Ethan moved on to Burgundy, France to pursue his studies in viticulture and enology at the wine making college of Beaune. Over the following years, he would have the honor of working in the vines, cuveries, and caves of, Benjamin Leroux and Dominique Lafon, of Domaine de Comte Armand in Pommard and Domaine des Comte Lafon in Meursault.
Having first hand intimate knowledge of the vineyards, wines, history, art, and secrets of the region, William Ethan now blends his cross-disciplinary passions to share and create unique in situ explorations.
